Top Ten Auction Sites Other than Ebay!
100Don't Get Stuck In an Ebay Rut!
There is no denying that you can find and sell just about anything on
Ebay. It is the easiest place to start an online business for yourself
but everyday more and more people are taking their selling and buying
adventures to other sites. If you're reading this you're probably aware
of Ebay's high fees are how easy it is for them to just shut you down.
There are more and more horror stories of Ebay just accusing honest
sellers of breaking their 'rules' and in the blink of an eye your
business is shut down without any legitimate reasons. What's worse is
it is virtually impossible to have a real conversation with anyone at
Ebay or get a 'non-generic' answer to your question or argument of
accusation. So where do you go when you feel like your business has
just been ruined and your life has been turned upside down? There are
plenty of up and coming auction sites and a few of them have the real
potential of being the next big thing.
1. Ebid.net - This
site was founded in 1999 and boy has it grown! With 2.4 million
auctions, 9500 categories, $0 listing fees, 5 free photos and is
available in 18 countries.....it is hot on Ebay's tail of auction
sites. Opening a store are free on Ebid AND you can snag your feedback
from Ebay. So, if you are like most of us good hardworking powersellers
and dread the thought of leaving behind your great feedback and
starting from scratch, fear no more....my feedback was imported in about
an hour after I emailed and requested it AND a real person responded to
my email and answered my question and took care of my need immediately.
There's great forums on this site and pretty much from what i can see,
all of the sellers are former Ebay sellers. You can also choose to have
auctions relisted as many times as you like for free too. The only
downside I see is I think there are a lot more sellers then buyers but
the site is growing fast and with more awareness I predict this site
taking over as the auction number one.
2. Ecrater.com - This
site is 100% free! Its extremely easy to build a store and my listings
were showing up in number one and two positions in Google searches within a day of
start up. So far this site according to my 'views' seems to get me the
most audience. It doesn't offer an auction but I just put on all my
listings that reasonable offers are considered with my fixed price so
they can just email me. And did I mention it's %100 free. No listing
fees. No sold fees. Just a great site.
3. Onlineauction.com - Home of the OLA house! Like a store....but its a house instead. Sellers
pay a set fee per week/month/year or life and can list unlimited and
sell unlimited and the fee is small! There is a small additional charge
to open an OLA house but compared to Ebay's fees you can pretty much
open stores and have listings on ten sites for the price of listing and
closing fees on Ebay. This site offers classic, fixed price, dutch,
absolute and sealed auctions, a little something for everyone. Four free
photos are included with each listing as well as free 'relisting' with
anything not sold. This site is definitely fun with the OLA house and
there's a lot of unique things sold here. Definitely one worth checking
out.
4. Ioffer.com - This is a little smaller site and from
what I've seen has an average of around 35,000 users online at a time.
$0 listing fees and a free store here too and here's another site you
can transfer your listings and feedback from Ebay! This small community
has a great 'wanted' section too so if there's something you're looking
for...post it here! ioffer showed my items on Google search fairly
quickly too.
5. Plunderhere.com - This site I would have ranked
as my number 2 option if it wasn't for the simple reason I haven't used
it as long to give it a fair evaluation but from what I've seen it's
right behind ebid.net and definately a better quality site than Ebay.
Again here, you can import your listings from Ebay, ecrater, etsy,
ioffer and a handful of other sites. Its free to join and only $2.50 to
become a verified seller. I love the layout of this site. Its so easy
to use and there's fun auction titles like $10.00 and under etc.
Plunderhere.com is definetely one to put on your list of sites to sell
and buy!
6. Epier.com - Here again....a free storefront for you!
Epier has some really unique stores on it. This site is better for more
original sellers that have something different to sell from the rest.
If you have something not so popular I think it has a real chance here.
It's free so give it a try!
7. Etsy.com -This is a site that
will become my number one or at least my number two eventually when I
start branching off more into selling other items. This could easily be
your number one and only site depending on what you sell. Here is a
site dedicated to all things handmade and designed. Awesome search
options include search by color, handpicked by members, undiscovered,
local, and just listed. If you are a crafty person and are putting in
the time to make something...you will sell it here! If you're a buyer
or a browser, check out this site! There are some amazing, original and
wonderful items on here.
8. Cafepress.com - Now here's your
chance to become a designer, have some fun and make some money. Not so
good if you have something to sell but if you're looking to 'make'
something its perfect. You can design shirts, mousepads,
waterbottles...just about anything. Oh and its free! You design it,
pick the mark up on the product and when it sells...Cafepress.com gets
their price and you get the profit. Try it out! You may discover a
talent you never knew you had.
9. Powersellersunite.com - Not
an auction site but it is a site you want to check out to unite with
other sellers fed up with Ebay. Full of forums and links to helpful
sites to build your business anywhere except Ebay! Loads of helpful
information here.
10. I dont have a favorite for a number ten
site but I do have a handful of other sites. Some of them small but they may
be the perfect place for whatever you're selling. Everyone has their
own niche and a site that's good for me may not be good for you and
vice versa so here's some other sites you may want to check out....
oztion.com, atomicmall.com, yourhighbid.com, hibidder.com,
overstock.com, wagglepop.com, bidtopia.com, buy.com, bidville.com,
cqout.com, theshopswap.com and delcampe.net.
These sites dont even
begin to touch the sites available if your product is books/games/
movies etc! Point being.... don't get stuck in an Ebay rut! There are other
options out there and although sales may not be huge on that site as
first....compared to paying fees with Ebay, you can use several sites
and find the one(s) you love. The more people become aware of other
sites the more they will leave Ebay behind. Sellers are fed up with
being taken for granted and are all uniting to find better ways to
build their future! If everyone spreads the word we will all be making
a lot more money, being treated a lot better, and putting those high
fees behind. Good luck to you!!!

What's your favorite auction site besides Ebay to use?Loading...
Great extensive list for sellers who are researching for alternatives! Thank you! We'll definitely check out other sites. Just to add to your list as an update regarding listing on eCRATER, sellers now can also import their listings from eBay too.
I found great information here. As we know EBAY is the leading in auction site. But why we don't try another site for option, But try to search the information first before join to these site. I hope those are legitimate. thanks
Thankls for writing this hub! I am a seller on ebay and have been looking for other, better options. I may give ecrater a shot.
This is a great article giving consumers informative info on the many popular alternative auction sites to sell your merchandise.
This is an excellent hub. I never knew there could be such good alternatives to ebay. I was of the opinion that sites other than ebay or amazon don't have much traffic and we can hardly get any sales. But now I got to explore these options. Thanks for the wonderful lens. I have bookmarked it.
Awesome hub thanks.
Another one not listed is goodforge.com. They're free and look decent even though they seem to be just starting up.
I hate giving Ebay anything. I had nothing but problems with them. I'm sure there are thousands of sellers looking to jump ship because of the horrible customer service and crazy fees. I have some insane horror stories.
Great hub btw.
A marketplace called adflyer.co.uk called me last week so I joined -pretty good!
Personally I have never got into auction sites, rather just affiliate marketing which I think works just aswell since there are so many products out there.
Thanks for sharing though
I'm sick of ebay - they change the rules and just don't tell you. I know cafepress and etsy - and will check out the other sites.
Great hub!
Cool hub, I am sick of ebay. Ten years ago it was fun and people made money. Now it's all about the $$$ for ebay.
I said screw ebay too! Instead of paying hundreds in fees each month I invested it into my own auction website. 9.99 a month unlimited with no FVF under 5,000.00. It's new but it's getting new members everyday worldwide. We work with a google rep so make sure we are seen all over the internet.
Great hub. Thank you for the info. I rated up and will bookmark.
Good Info. btw, there will be a new auction site launched on 1st of June 2010 with no LISTING FEES and no END OF SALE fees.
check it out after 1st of June :
looking for great products to sell on auction sites well you need to visit http://www.pwholesales.com
Interesting to know. I haven't heard of any of these sites except for Cafepress because its on Squidoo.
How did Ebay stand out and get so popular?
Thanks so much for sharing. Will check them out. :)
I absolutely detest eBay! They were really an ideal selling platform many years ago...what happen to them. They just started treating their sellers so horrible and Paypal is full of a bunch of criminals....funny they can hold your money yet they can take their fees out. Shameful. You have some great ones listed here. I have had good luck on eCrater! Great hub and very useful information. Rated up for sure!
there's also another new site that has started called c-bay-auction that guaranties to keep cost down for all with free list now
www.icybid.com is now launched!
- NO FEES FOR LISTING AN ITEM
- NO FEES WHEN YOUR ITEM SELLS
- GET CREDIT FOR EACH MEMBER YOU INVITE TO US
- GET CREDIT EACH TIME YOUR INVITED MEMBER LISTS AN AUCTION

- 24h CUSTOMER SUPPORT
And there is more to come....
Ebid. . but you have to promo yourself
Great Hub, I was just research to find this list! A ++ - -thanks!
Great hub on many othe auction sites. I find great deals by shopping around.
check out another ebay alternative http://www.bidstick.com
Great hub! I had not heard of some of these..
This is really useful information, I had heard of ecrater but that was it.
If you are in Australia then i recommend Oztion.
I passed this list on I know people that spend 1000s in fees on ebay monthly, and after reading this I check ed it out and it looks like it may be worth a few listings if nothing else... I am finding alot of useful information on hubpages thanks
Ebay is disgusting. I rank them up there with the Enrons and BP s of the corporate world
I really looking for this information. Thanks for sharing .
Thats right..eBay is just all about money. My last invoice was 114 USD...that is really sick!
I have made only 60 USD profit. They should make changes. When you sell, then youll pay.Aint right?Other thing is...you cant make better prices because of fees. That isick anyhow.
I sell on videogamefans.net I am looking for more information to sell my video game collection online and ebay prices are too much. VideoGameFans offers prices that are way below ebay costs and there are no final value fees. Pretty sweet set up as it looks very similar to ebay.
thanks i'll take some time to join a couple of these
Thanks for this info theherbivorehippi. This is surely a good help for most readers since we will have to know where and what to buy on the net. Thanks! =)
Awesome post - I only knew of a few of these! Thanks for sharing :)
nice information!
Great information. It's nice to see eBay has some competition after how they treat their sellers.
I Have recently set up a new auction site, and would like to get a decent amount of trusted users to buy and sell!
A build a honest, trusted Community
great article. I have some paintings that i made and have some frames for them and I tried to sell on ebay but i'll try etsy.com. Never knew there was a site for handmade crafts. Anyways great stuff here. And thanks! :)
Going to follow
everyone the best place to go and find great products to sell is http://www.pwholesales.net i always buy from these guys trust me you will make more money
I posted info in 'community' on ebay and it was promptly removed. Two websites that I found interesting. auctiondose.com and findtarget.com
auctiondose has all ebay auctions. They are looking for partners. Pondering the possibilities of this site.
ebay was threatened? I'm certainly going to get away from ebay. I'm also very concerned about paypal. Check out paypalsucks.com
Thanks for all the info above. Much appreciated. Packing up and moving on in a few days (from ebay).
WOW, I had no idea there were so many options other than ebay when it comes to auction sites. Thanks for the heads up and great tips on auctions sites. Peace :)
Thank you so much for posting this! My fiance and I recently started our own online boutique, specializing in eco-friendly items made in the USA. We got the business license, resale certificate, etc.. We thought EBAY would be the best start up site for our company. After about 2 months, we were doing amazing! Averaging 20 sales per day (that's huge for us just getting started ;) Well, then ebay puts seller restrictions on us. I called customer service, waited 45min to get a real person. Told him that I'd been an ebay member for about 5 years on a different acct. They didn't care, and would only allow me to post 10 new items per 30 days! I got a little upset with the rep and 15 minutes later my acct was suspended, then my paypal was suspended! I still can't get ebay reinstated, but paypal is back. Almost $1000 was frozen in my paypal with buyers wanting their merchandise, but no way to see any details... NIGHTMARE. They required me to send product invoices where I had purchased wholesale, tax id number, etc. They said it was suspicious that I was selling so much right away. Anyway, I'm thankful to find all of these other sites because of your post. Thank you so very much! Good Luck Sellers ;)
Earthy Regards,
Jeni
I ABSOLUTELY AGREE: e BAY EFFIN SUCKS.
THEY ARE ONLY ON THE BUYER'S SIDE.
ANY WHINEY BUYER CAN DO WHAT THE HELL EVR SHE/HE WANTS, AND YOU'RE LEFT HOLDING THE BAG.
I AM A FIRST-TIME SELLER. I WENT ON EBAY, VERY NAIVE. I MADE THE MISTAKE OF LISTING ONE OF MY EXPENSIVE VINTAGE ITEMS AS A BID(AND AS A BUY NOW). ONE BUYER BID 0.99 CENTS. AND SHE WON----FOR AN ITEM THAT I PAID 69.00 DOLLRAS FOR.
SHE EXPECTED IT IMMEDIATLY.
I WROTE HER AND PROFUSELY APOLOGIZED AND EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS MY FIRST TIME AND I BEGGED FOR HER PATIENCE AND I DID WHATEVER I COULD TO BEND BACKWARDS FOR HER. THE TWERPY BICH IMMEDIATLY WENT AND GAVE ME BAD FEEDBACK---AND SHE HADN'T EVEN PAID YET, SO SHE WAS NOT A BUYER! BUT E BAY PUBLISHED HER FEEDBACK REGARDLESS!
SO I HAD TO GO THRU HELL AND MANY MORE COSTS(MORE THAN THE 70.00 DOLLARS), TO OPEN A NEW ACCOUNT AND DO THE LIDTINGS ALL OVER AGAIN. BUT THEN E BAY FROZE MY ACCOUNT, DEMANDING VERIFICATION IN 48 HOURS. I TRIED TO VERIFY WITHIN 1 HOUR OF THAT DEMAND, BUT THEY'D ALREADY FROZEN MY ACCOUNT!
I CALLED, WAS ON HOLD FOR ALMOST 2 HOURS, THEN GOT DISCONNECTED---AND LEFT OUT IN THE COLD.
I READ YOUR LISTS OF OTHER SITES. I'VE TRIED MONDRO.COM AND LISTED THERE, BUT NOBODY EVER GOES TO THAT SITE. I'LL TRY THE OTHER ONES. THANK YOU.
I DO HOPE THAT EBAY GOES OUT OF BUSINESS---THEY ARE THE WORST!!
BTW: can you PLEASE tell me how the hell to get sucky ebay to respond to me?
It's NOT that I want to be there, but I've already listed, but they froze my account and I have to get it unfrozen.
Every damn time I call the ONLY number, the 866 one, I'm on hold for hours, then I'm told to effin' e mail them.
I e mailed them several times, but they haven't responded---yet they had no problem IMMEDIATLY freezing my account when THEY wanted to!!! I HATE e bay!
I went to the other sites you mentioned, such as ebid, but it kind of looks like a ghost town.
I sell vintage accessoris, so I can't pay a hifh fee, but I also don't want to go on a site that nobody ever visits.
I did try Mondro.com, but that's also another site that nobody really goes to. Please help.
great lists of auction sites..actually in our country eBay have more reputation..but I will definitely check out lists that you mentioned..good wishes to you..

So have a good fun everyone!
Thanks for a great article. I'm a beginner and appreciate the ebay insights.
I have been reading these comments, because I of course am one of the smaller stores trying to leave ebay. I have noticed alot of complaints about paypal being just as bad as ebay. Paypal is owned by Ebay. Now I luckily have never had any bad luck with paypal and I have 100% feedback with Ebay. But yes there fees have become outrageous. I am just not making any money there.
So I just looked at the ecrater site, and they are paid thru paypal also. Isn't that just crazy that they make all this money by being affiliated with all these sites as well as being owned by Ebay. I think there should be an Ebay strike!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi,
Brilliant article. It sure is interesting to see the growing dislike for eBay. Amazing that a business can be so new yet become so anti it's smaller customers, which let's face t are where they started and where their future big customers come from (we all started small at one point!).
We have just launched the world's first pay per bid auction marketplace. To date any pay per bid (penny auctions, lowest unique bid, reveal the price etc) site has only listed themselves, not offered independent sellers access.
It's called Exceet auctions and is located at http://exceet.com
Hate to come on here and plug our business but we think you'll really appreciate an alternative selling marketplace to the traditional auction models. There's tons of information on our site. Thanks
It's really important these days to stop the monopoly of big companies and search for new ones out there and give them support too to grow and give them a chance and also braking the monopoly of the ones who tries to dominate the market not because they don't deserve it but because they try to manipulate things always on their side forgetting about their sellers and forgetting that one day they were not what they are today and many more people were satified at those times.
I would suggest people to try https://www.classilisttelmarket.com which is an awesome auction site!
It remembers the beggining of ebay times where everything was simple and everybody was happy.
Classilisttel Market has everything to become the next big auction site because it's not complicated,it's free, you can add listings for up to 90 days uninterropted and free, you don't need to pay for any sale you made, you can add reserve price free, buy it now free, you can have handling time up to 30 days making it easier to find a buyer and get the item to post only afterwords, buyers will contact you via e-mail and you will get buyers e-mail too, feedback ratings are there,It's very clear index page design what makes it easier to navigate for both sellers and buyers. The good thing is that it does not cost a thing to list your item in there and you can keep it live for 3 months so there is nothing really to lose giving it a try.
Classilisttel Market has really a star shinning on it's name and they will for sure get bigger and bigger to change the monopoly of auction sites making auction sales easier the way it was supposed to be...
A couple of my friends had a lot of luck on this site.
It got rated number 2 auction site
I think if all the sellers go to one place we could take ebay down having a ton only hurts things. this one promotes itself much like Amazon did to get big so I can bet out of all of them this one has the most potential to take off. If you look on facebook this has not been around as long as ubid or ebid or some of the others and allready has over 1200 likes. Amazon has 1500. Ebid and ubid both been around much longer and had a lot less. 700 and 1000 This shows that the site knows how to promote itself and it should take off. It will take of much sooner if we all jump ship.
It is growing faster then any of the others and I have researched over 40 auction sites and stats of bids and items listed and growth.
1300 likes is Nothing close to Ebay who has 389,000 and when you consider the other sites been around for years
Here is a link to my store I plan on building in the spring
This is my store I plan to get going in March
My friend made 3500.00 in 1 month here and on Ebay he does about 4500 but pays Ebay and payapl about 500$ and the dispute system Ebay has is not seller friendly at all.
now seller get scammed very easily its allmost criminal what ebay has become for sellers. This Webstore site has all the features ebay had and is like the good old days and it makes selling fun. and accepts both Google checkout and paypal Free to list and free final value fees. you can list for 100 percent freethe only fee there is, is Only 10$ to become verified and this will also give you a 5 star feedback. I have seen it work and will add this to the ones I use. I also use amazon Ebay for unique and rare items and have stuff on a couple other sites but I like the way webstore is doing it and hope they can take ebay down
Wow look at these comments about the eBay! I used to be a seller there also, but they now seem to favor, and cater to, the big business guys, and the at-home seller has been hung out to dry. The new feedback system was the writing on the wall for me, after years of enduring bad changes and increased fees.
I really hope one of these sites becomes the new standard in auction sites. I'd LOVE to get back into online selling. Running auctions is such fun!
I heard about selling on Amazon. I wonder how that's working out for folks.
great info hub, thanks a lot
I love eCrater. It is such a great site. I also sell on bonanza. www.bonanza.com. Check it out..
Good list of sites that are better than eBay. I'm getting tired of using eBay, regular auctions have gotten pretty boring. Here's a site that reviews penny auctions: http://pennyauctionscam.org
Another new site that you may not have heard of is Big Value Depot. They have free listings, no FVF, fantastic webstores, upload from smartphones, and multilisting of your item to hundreds of other sites. You can also earn by promoting the company itself. Take a look: http://www.bigticketguy.com
Great list, there is another site http://www.ealtbay.com that targets items that are perfectly legal to own and sell, but are banned on Ebay. Have you ever listed a vintage Bear skin rug, or a set of antique ivory bangles on Ebay? If you did you would have discovered that your listing was ended by Ebay, they charged you all of the fees for the listing, and warned you if you repeated the action you would be suspended as a seller. Ealtbay.com allows, even encourages these listings. Ealtbay has free listings, very low final value fees, and Paypal is NOT necessary. Give it a look.
theherbivorehippi, you really posted great articles here.. thanks so much for sharing us.
I basically did all my christmas(2011) shopping on there, and then some. Super fast shipping, and the only site i've come across that actually gives you bids back when you win. I definitely recommend!!
Oh, thank you, very useful information I got on your hub, nice job :))
Thank you for the list, I will try them due to a horrible experience with ebay. They screwed me over big time and i am not willing to deal with them anymore so thank you very much.
Thanks for the great info. As the owner of www.koalabids.com it is great to see other sites supporting us smaller auction sites.
eBay is trying to get rid of small sellers!!!
I don't know why but people seem to get "stupid sickness"
When they have a great idea and make money!! I owned a highend giftshop at a mall and about halfway through my lease it became apparent that they were running off the local owned shops. The mall looked at it like this. They can push around a manager of a store but I and other owners would rip their asses if they messed with us. So they ran off all the mom and pops and lost all the unique stores. So now they are going out of business (the mall) . eBay was the place to go at first. I made a ton of money off of rare and secondary market items.
Heck I even bought stock in eBay. Now eBay is tring to move out the small seller and create powersellers. Stupid move! So now as a seller there is no recourse when somebody breaks a 500.00 sculpture taking it out of the box and wants me to refund their money. So I guess this is the buisness plan for eBay : remove and reduce small sellers too much work handling there problems. Make it easier for the buyer! So if they run off the diverse sellers with all the wonderful small stuff, they will just have boring crap left over. Great for buying towels and bulk dishwasher pellets. WTF eBay your stupid, greedy, and you will kill your business from the roots up!!!
I love all the post here!
I was thinking before I close my eBay account I might copy this page and list it as the description section of a .99¢ auction with the title eBay is Dead!
Bet I won't have to close my account then!! Ha
I have a ebay store and I am looking for sites with less fees. ebay takes 20% of your gross sales in fees or more, and has a system than does not care about it's sellers at all. There has to be a better site out there to sell on. thanks for the info
Thank you for this great article!
I've been selling on eBay from very near the beginning (various accounts) and have watched and been subjected to the slow dissolution of seller rights especially in their 2008 round of feedback changes which, in our minds, vaporized the level playing field between buyer and seller. Fee's aside it's getting really bad. Over proceduralized would be an understatement.
One point to all the unaware eBay sellers. Tracking! No matter what you do, include tracking/delivery confirmation numbers EACH AND EVERY TIME you send a product to a customer. Build the cost into your shipping if you must, especially for USPS. I can't tell you how many times this has saved our collective hides. It is virtually the last safe recourse for a seller when a buyer goes sour. PayPal will nearly 99.9% of the time return your money when your tracking shows a delivery, irregardless of what the buyer is throwing at them.
Onward:
Having started a new business...again...I really had an itch to sell elsewhere other than eBay so I searched and up pops this awesome summary. So I am off and running with several of the sites now listed here.
BTW eCrater imports from eBay but you have to have at least 50 eBay listings. I only had 28 at his time. But that's ok, imports usually need sprucing up anyway.
One last comment regarding eBay and their fees is that they have a direct and tangible affect on my pricing regarding our displays. I am trying to build a sold and top-quality product and given the tight margin and labor recovery on my builds, eBay forces me to charge at least 10-12% more in price for my product which pushes me to the upper range of consumer comfort. I try to compensate for this by offering free shipping on display orders over $100 but still I am really hoping for a successful eBay alternative for the sole purpose of kicking them to the curb.

Thanks for the very valuable information. Alot of people only know about ebay and some of them so it is nice to put all of them in one article for the people to know about them.
If you thought evil-bay was bad as far as their fees before, look at the bomb they dropped on us sellers yesterday: Coming April 19: List Auction-style FREE, any start price, all the time. Add Buy It Now FREE.
Dear tanksbyjoe:
Your upfront cost of selling on eBay is about to be dramatically reduced once again!
Starting April 19, Standard Auction-style fees will be changing. You'll be able to list FREE at any start price--up to 50 items a month. Plus you can add the Buy It Now option FREE to grab those buyers who don't want to wait for your listing to end. In short, you can now list even your higher priced items free--pay only if it sells.
Also, we know online buyers pay attention to shipping costs when deciding what and where to buy. That's why, to encourage low-cost shipping, Final Value Fees for all sellers will be applied to the total amount of the sale, including shipping. Just keep your shipping costs low to get the lowest overall fees.
New eBay Shopping Cart
Online shoppers are accustomed to adding items to a shopping cart--and they're often motivated to buy more. That's why we're introducing the new eBay Shopping Cart that works with both Fixed Price and Auction-style items. Buyers can add items from multiple sellers and pay in one easy checkout--making it easier and more likely for them to buy more. It will become the way to shop on eBay before the 2011 holiday season.

They seem to think we're so stupid that we don't see that they are putting a fee on the shipping now too, which they are already doing on paypal, so now we get a fee on our shipping twice! They don't even come to my house & do my shipping for me, & now they're making money on it. If you go to the discussion page at e-bay, you'll see how over 2400 people are up in arms about this.

Hi herbivrehippi,
Tell ya what, if you want to see some real e-bay dissension, go to that discussion board at the bottom of that letter from e-bay. Theirs gonna be a mass exodus from e-bay soon. Some sellers are talking about boycotting them for a week. You're right, e-bay used to be fun to sell on. Sellers can't leave bad buyers neg feedback, so we sellers,(who pay all the fees, buyers pay nothing) don't have an equal voice there at all. I'm moving all my auctions to Wensy.com & www.ecrater.com gotta put e-bay in my rear view mirror now. I put that in all my remaining e-bay listings too, lol.
Very good blog, thanks for article.
Hi all try this web site www.trade2cash.com.au you can auction, upload a CV for a dream job and its all free
Both http://www.bidmate.com.au and http://www.trademe.co.nz are real auction sites and both are bigger than those listed here.
I have been unloading lots of old books on eBay for the better part of a year. For the most part, I've been able to take advantage of their seller specials to avoid fees. There is NO WAY I would have kept it up otherwise. I do sell on Etsy, too, but would like to market other items on bid sites. This hub has give me some great options to consider. Thanks!
Good list of auction sites other than eBay here. All the sites you listed though seem like regular auction sites. I'd also mention penny auction sites like Quibids and Beezid, which are a completely different type of auction.
Amazing hub.Every seller should read this! Voted up and useful.
I was just about to list some items to sell on ebay - I am so thrilled to have found your hub in time. The list you have provided, along with great information on each one, is marvelous! I think I will go with Ecrater now. Thanks so much!
I just opened a new Site because i was a ebay powerseller
and i just cauld not take the fees along with the shipping cost.So i decided just to open my own site now i will start to post my items there. Its all Free so if anyone would like to join and post items there you may.
Welcome to Bid Tyrant
Cool. I actually had no idea of what some of the other sites were until I read this. Thanks.
Hi, thanks for this great informative hub. As ebay's fees are going rocket high these days many people are looking for alternative. Small firms that sell their goods on eBay are being squeezed out of business and many don't see any point selling there anymore. I have been trading on ebay for last 4 years and is now looking for alternative online business. Ebay is always changing their selling policy and adding new terms which are causing difficulty to many sellers. Alternative sites are good idea but these sites needs support from online shoppers and traders in order to succeed. One site I know that is doing really well is ioffer.com which is an american site but people from all over the world can trade on there. A lot of chinese sellers are doing really well on there. Thanks.
Wow. I'm almost embarrassed! I have never heard of any of these sites and I always use Ebay! Thanks for opening my eyes!
Thanks for the list. I'm looking to replace ebay since they just added more fees. I'm going to give eBid a try.

I really enjoyed reading your article as well as the thread of comments. I was able to get several cool resources.
All I can say is, dealing with Ebay cost me $700!!! that was a painful mistake I will never forget. I am just glad we were able to voice out our frustrations about E(vil)-Bay.
Good job!
eBay is sucks. Got this them 10 years 470 all positive feedback's and they are turn my account down! it' crazy. Now I am use free site http://www.auctionsbuy.com/ it's not bad but we need more people.
I've been selling on eBay for 8 years, a powerseller and top rated seller. The other week they suspended my account for $40 invoice that wasn't even mine. Took me days to speak with a native english speaking rep, 2 weeks of them investigating an finally re-opened my account, no apology, no compensation, no help.. I hate eBay with a passion. I have a family and overheads and they don't care to help at times when it's most needed. I have an account rep that can't be contacted and speaking to a human is impossible. How is eBay still in business? Go to hell eBay.
I have moved all of my inventory to e-crater and appearing in search results almost immediately. With a little more exposure to the public hopefully buyers will start appearing also quite soon. I cant afford to make the same mistake again (putting all my trust in 1 company) so have also invested in a website to make sure I always have an avenue to sell my quality product.
Thanx for listening to my rant.
Flee eBay!
i have found CQout.com to be a great site,i particularly like securepay, an in house escrow service that as a buyer has saved my bacon on more than one occasion.
we all know that sellers sometimes fudge the details to make the lot sound better and this can lead to disputes between buyer and seller
securepay addresses this problem, if you are not happy, you send the goods back to the seller and CQout gives you your money back.
so you can buy with complete security.
as to listings and making them, the interface is easy, you can use your own templates and colors to personalize your auctions.
i find other auction sites too technical these days and quite daunting .
so i always use CQout first
lets get started
I LOVE YOU.
I AM SICK OF EBAY ALREADY AS A SELLER
THIS ARTICLE IS JUST BRILLIANT.
I agree with all of you about ebay being a monster, they shut me down more times that I care to remember, although my fees were in the hundreds of pounds every month, I used to sell my items like hot cakes and actually make a profit, these days I have my items on 6 different sites and the sales are like a dribble if any. I have been on ebid.net for 1 year and have paid more in fees that make sales, ioffer take the piss, everytime I make a sale they shut my shop until the buyer leaves feedback, its a month since they done that, well do you think a buyer would be confident in leaving feedback if he cant see your store?
I made a few sales on bonanza, addoway, ecrater, none on webstore.
Thanks for reading my rant, but as you all know these sites need traffic in order for us to make any decent sales, alas my ebay venture was a full time job up to last year and with a good revenue, now I have to have a day job and be content with the occasional sale.

Hello everyone, i have read all the posts here , i can agree with everyone that Ebay has gone down hill in many ways , i have been a seller since 1999 (going on 12 years now) 3000+ 100% feedback and i have never had any of the problems other sellers have had with ebay or paypal, so i have to assume that i have been "lucky" , the only gripe i have with them (and it is a big one) is the fees, ESPECIALLY in this bad economic times we are having, there is no reason for them to have raised them as high as they have, i recently sold some items within the last 6 months and the ebay/paypal cut on average for listing, final fees , and paypal is around 20% ? I remember not that long ago the average for me was about 8% total ! ( i loved it when we had money orders and no paypal!)thats a big difference in a few years, also all these other short lived "bid" sites are NOT a bid site like ebay is, ecrater is not an auction site , the only reason i sell on ebay is because of the auction style selling (not amazon style in a cart !) I always sold my items for more than the set price of other sellers because i would set my auctions at the lowest starting price to get them interested and offer cheap combined shipping (i sell many rare dvd and video games and toys at once) and then sit back and watch the bid wars take place ! i never understood that but it worked every time, so ebay is the only choice for me to sell this way since 1 you have to have lots of interested buyers and 2 a real auction site . I am just like you guys in wishing things on ebay were the way they once were , but until they change or another well known site starts doing auction style bidding i have no choice..... i do like ecrater though for cart style , i will have to look into that, thanks for the heads up !
Very informative Hub. I’ve been fed up with e-bay for quite a while now and looking to go somewhere else. The last straw was when some guy recently left me some false negative feedback because I refused to do business with him after he tried to take advantage of me. Basically he got mad because I wouldn't let him get away with pulling a fast one. Anyway e-bay refused to remove the feedback despite overwhelming evidence that it was purely malicious and untrue. And since I’ve hardly used e-bay this past year, and since they calculate sellers ratings based only on the past 12 months, it really pulled my percentage way down despite that fact that it has been 100% positive for the past 15 years. Some of you other disgruntled e-bayer out there are probably wondering why e-bay consistently make policies that favor the bad guys over the good guys. Well its not because they are stupid, as I used to think. In reality its just pure greed. These policies actually add to their bottom line. One good example of this is thier recent policy (within the past 5 years I think) which prevents sellers from leaving negative feedback for non-paying bidders, or any buyer for that matter. Naturally this has led to an explosion in the amount of non-paying bidders over the years, which, you guessed it, leads to more profit s for e-bay. You see when someone wins an item and does not pay for it that item has to be re-listed and the seller is billed final value fees twice for an item that actually only sold once (you are billed based on money promised rather than on money actually received). And since a certain percentage of people will be too lazy or forgetful to jump through all the hoops necessary to get these fees refunded to them e-bay ends up keeping this money, which adds up to millions in extra profits. Your loss is their gain. Of course you can always submit a “non-payment” complaint to e-bay against the non-paying bidder, which eventually will lead to your fees being automatically refunded to you, but most people don’t want to mess with this long drawn out process. They just want to get their item re-listed as soon as possible so they can get their money. Because of this a person can refuse to pay for five or ten items or more before finally getting a single non-payment strike on his record. And of course a person has to have an incredible amount of these strikes on his record before e-bay will even consider closing his account. In fact as sellers we are only allowed to exclude those buyers with more than two non-payment strikes against them in a month, and more than two strikes in a month could easily equate to 20 or 30 actual non payments in a single month. If you refused to pay even once at a brick and mortar auction house, without a very good reason at least, you would probably be banned for life. At e-bay however it’s apparently more profitable to let these non-paying bidders run amuck and operate with impunity. Of course this causes countless headaches for sellers, not mention lost revenue, but I guess e-bay figures they are so far ahead of the competition that they wont loose any customers over it. Well, all I can say is they are going to be in for a big surprise. I predict that very soon, as other sites get better, there is going to be a mass exodus of e-bay sellers to these other sites and no matter what they do they will never get them back again. Lets hope that day arrives soon.
I noticed a mistake in my previous post. I said that sellers on e-bay could only exclude buyers with more than two non-payment strikes in a month but what I meant to say was two in a year. I still think we should be able to exclude a buyer with even one strike though because as I pointed out this cold actually mean he has not paid many times before getting that strike and as far as I'm concerned there is no excuse for not paying for an item that you have bid on and won. Buyers remorse is not a valid excuse.
thanks for shareing,i really love it
Great list and I liked it because it have most of the sites which are new or people are not so much aware of, otherwise we always see the same amazon, ebay and forgot others or didnot even want to give it a try. I found http://framt.com/sell-your-stuff and thinking to give it a try as I dont want to pay too much for selling my stuff online.
Thanks for sharing wonderful information, I check your website, perfect. You can contact me for best gemstone jewelry from jaipur........
I hate ePAY!!! I will try some of these free sites.
I have used Bonanza (previously called Bonanzle). They have free listings, pictures, etc. Do you have any information about that site? I don't get a lot of action from it.
EBAY ARE CRAP! I JUST LOST MY MONEY BUYING AN ITEM, THE SELLER DIDNT SEND IT, I PUT A CASE IN TO GET MY MONEY BACK AND EBAY BACKED THE SELLER, SO IVE LOST MY MONEY, EBAY CUSTOMER SUPPORT & EBAY CUSTOMER PROTECTION ARE A JOKE!!IVE LEFT EBAY NOW. BEST THING I EVER DID.
Etsy is also for vintage items. I have two stores, as I make ornaments, doll ans animals for collectors all over the world at www.etsy.com/shop/shellylampshire and I have a vintage etsy store www.etsy.com/shop/EurekaYouFoundIt

Hi I'm from Australia thanks for the info, wow so many ebay alternatives out there these days,
I use a site called AuctionBidz online auctions, also free to use with no selling fees at all.
I also sell on www.bonanza.com It is not an auction site but more of a fixed price site. Alot of sellers do offer OBO on their items. The community on there is so helpful and nice.
Thank you for your effort bringing this up. there is a new but promising auction site coming up, was wondering if you would consider writing an honest review about it.
thanks
Great stuff! I've got some tv's I need to sell, but not really interested in just posting them on CL. Thanks a ton!

Does anyone have any experience with Webstore (not Amazons webstore) and if things sell three? It is all free and consider very good according to the companies that compare sites to ebay.
Does anyone try www.bidpalace.com
The hell with Ebay! My brother shafted them real good and because I registered the same address as him, they shut me down. 5 years problem free and they shut me down because I live with someone who has a "suspended account". Now, Paypal has $800 of mine held up with them for 6 months! I'm telling as many people as I can to not use Ebay or Paypal because they are crooks and theives!
